DEFIBRILLATOR
Please also see our 'How to Donate' page
A life-saving piece of equipment, purchased in August 2014 after a variety of fundraising events. Our Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) sits in a secure cabinet located on the outside of the Amy Robsart Village Hall.
In an emergency dial 999. The Emergency Services will give you the access code to the AED cabinet.
We also have our Village Emergency Telephone Scheme (VETS) after dialling 999 telephone 01485-205100
this will connect you to one of our volunteers. Trained in Basic Life-Saving Skills they are ready to help in an emergency and will bring the AED to your location.
If you would like to be a volunteer or would like further information please contact us on the drop down menu above.
In August 2016 we donated £500 to the Wicken Green Residents to help purchase their own Defibrillator. This is now sited in a converted telephone box.
Things to think about....
- Try to remain calm, giving clear, concise information to the Emergency Services. Know your full postcode. Make sure that your home is numbered (not just named) and that the number is easy to see from the street. All of this will make it easier for the Emergency Services to find you quickly in an emergency.
- If possible send someone to wait outside for help. They can flag the ambulance down and direct them to you quickly.
- Turn on all the house lights and open the curtains if it is dark outside to make your house stand out from the others.
- Move your pets into another room, they can become agitated if a stranger enters your home or starts CPR on their owner.
- Program the VETS number (01485-205100) into all of your phones or keep the number nearby.
- Wear medical alert jewellery to make any allergies or medical conditions known.
